About Just FYI
Our Mission
Just FYI exists to empower communities with privacy-respecting health tools. We believe that staying informed about potential health exposures should not require sacrificing your privacy or anonymity.
Our mission is simple: Enable safer communities through technology that respects individual privacy.
Why Just FYI?
Traditional contact tracing methods often require personal information, creating barriers for communities where privacy and anonymity are essential. Just FYI was built to address this gap.
The Problem We Solve
Many individuals, particularly those in LGBTQ+ communities and people who value their privacy, face a difficult choice:
- Participate in contact tracing and risk exposure of personal information
- Opt out entirely and remain uninformed about potential health risks
This is an unfair choice. Health awareness should not come at the cost of privacy.
Our Solution
Just FYI eliminates this trade-off by providing:
- Complete anonymity: No personal information required or collected
- Secure data handling: Interaction data is encrypted and minimal data is retained
- Anonymous interactions: Your real identity is never exposed
- Voluntary participation: You control when and how you participate
Our Values
Privacy First
Privacy is not just a feature; it is our foundation. Every design decision starts with the question: “How can we minimize data collection while maximizing utility?”
Transparency
Our source code is publicly available for anyone to review, audit, and contribute to. We believe transparency builds trust.
Community Focus
Just FYI is built for and with our community. We listen to feedback, prioritize accessibility, and design for real-world use cases.
Sustainable and Transparent
Just FYI is committed to remaining free for everyone. We do not sell data, display ads, or monetize our users. To cover ongoing server costs, we may introduce optional tips or accept sponsorships in the future, but the core product will always be free.
Source Code
Just FYI is source-available software. This means:
- Anyone can review our code to verify our privacy claims
- Security researchers can audit our implementation
- Developers can contribute improvements and fixes
- Non-commercial use is permitted (personal projects, education, research)
- Commercial use requires explicit permission
Visit our GitHub repository to explore the code, report issues, or contribute to the project.
